As foreshadowed on Politics, the Yellowjackets now sport an acoustic sound, with synthesizer used more like a dash of salt in a recipe rathern than a main ingredient. The songs also relax more, feeling looser, suggesting more "space" in which to improvise. "Geraldine" and "Storytellers" are good examples of this. Marc Russo gives one of his finest performances on the title track--a blistering bebop-influenced track. This would also be Russo's swan song with Yellowjackets.
